Summary

The short version: the calculator runs entirely in your browser and the numbers you enter never leave your device. We may collect anonymous usage data only if you click "Accept All" on the cookie banner. Rejecting cookies still gives you the full tool with zero tracking.

1. Who we are

The Pennsylvania Paycheck Calculator is operated by Ritam Debnath, a freelance developer based out of Kolkata, India ("we", "us", "our"). For data-protection purposes under the EU GDPR, we act as the controller for any analytics we collect. Reach us via the contact page.

2. What we do not collect

Pay figures, names, addresses, or any data entered into the calculator form. All math runs client-side.
Account credentials. There is no sign-up.
Email addresses unless you voluntarily send us one via the contact form (and even then, the form opens your mail client — we don't run a mail server).
Precise GPS location or device fingerprint.

3. What we do collect (only with consent)

Anonymous, aggregated analytics: country, device class, referring page, page views. No IP storage longer than 24 hours, no user IDs, no cross-site tracking.
Your cookie-consent choice, stored in localStorage under pa_cookie_consent for one year so the banner does not keep re-appearing.
Form submissions: only when you initiate a mailto via the contact form. Mail clients handle the transport — nothing in our stack records the body.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

Cookie consent is processed under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. Anonymous analytics are processed under Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interest, balanced against your reasonable expectation of privacy and minimised by IP truncation and the absence of cross-site identifiers. Strictly necessary cookies (consent storage) are exempt from consent under the ePrivacy Directive Article 5(3).

5. California, Virginia, Colorado, and Connecticut rights

If you reside in California (CCPA / CPRA), Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), or Connecticut (CTDPA), you have the right to: know what personal data we collect (Section 3), delete personal data we hold, opt out of any sale or sharing of personal data (we do not sell or share), and non-discrimination for exercising your rights. To exercise any of these, message us via the contact page with the subject line "Privacy Request".

6. Third-party services we use

Google Fonts (CSS delivery). Google may log your IP for serving the stylesheet; their privacy policy applies at fonts.googleapis.com.
Possibly Cloudflare Web Analytics (privacy-first, no cookies, no fingerprinting) — currently not loaded; reserved slot only.
Government websites we link to (IRS, PA Department of Revenue, PA L&I, DCED). Following an outbound link takes you to those sites, where their respective privacy policies apply.

7. Children

The calculator is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted data through the contact form, write to us and we will remove it within seven days.

8. Data retention

Anonymous analytics: 12 months raw, anonymised thereafter. Your cookie-consent record: 12 months or until you clear it via the floating "Cookie Settings" pill. Contact form messages: handled in your local mail client — we never see the body unless you forward it to us.

9. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Inputs are processed in JavaScript and never transmitted. We do not run application databases on this domain.

10. International transfers

Analytics providers may process data outside your home jurisdiction. Where required (EU/UK), transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

11. Changes to this policy

Material changes are highlighted at the top of the page for at least 30 days after they take effect, with the last-updated date underneath.
